Who: Brian and Jenni Schipper What: Wicked Pineapple Where: 1296 Florida A1A, Satellite Beach When: Tuesday - Saturday 7:30 am - 4:30 pm; Sunday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm; Closed Monday Brian and Jenni Schipper recently moved to the Space Coast and in only a few months opened a cafe and surf shop that has welcomed Satellite Beach residents and settled into the local vibe of the community. Wicked Pineapple specializes in acai bowls, but also offers organic coffee, gluten free sweets, and other treats. We met with Brian and Jenni to talk about their journey to Satellite Beach and opening Wicked Pineapple. Why Satellite Beach? Originally from Orlando, Brian and Jenni moved to Satellite Beach from Charleston, South Carolina where they owned a local surf shop there. After hearing about Satellite Beach from friends, they liked the local aspect of the community and decided to move their family and open a cafe and surf shop here. Why Wicked Pineapple? To Brian and Jenni, opening a cafe and surf shop that specializes in acai bowls and homemade treats was an easy decision. Brian believed in Jenni’s baking and her ability to make baked goods taste sensational with or without wheat and their kids always loved acai bowls. So the perfect recipe of gluten-free treats, love of acai, and the vibes they were feeling from Satellite Beach, resulted in Wicked Pineapple. Furthermore, Brian has a unique take on pineapple and what they represent. If you ask him why he chose the name, it’s pretty simple, pineapple is known to represent hospitality, and in his own words… “It’s [pineapple] wicked because you can stick a whole bowl of it in front of someone and they will eat it”. What sets Wicked Pineapple apart? There are a few things that make Wicked Pineapple more than just a cafe or surf shop. For starters, almost everything is organic and gluten-free. The coffee, granola, honey, and acai are all organic and gluten-free options are offered for all of their baked goods. The coffee in particular, is not your average cup of joe. The coffee beans are sourced directly from families in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Guatemala and when they arrive at Wicked Pineapple they undergo a precise process to ensure every cup is exceptional. What’s the best thing on the menu? After sitting with Brian, we quickly realized it’s hard to pick the best thing on the menu. From a variety of acai bowls, bagel sandwiches, baked goods, coffee, tea, and smoothies, there are always options to choose from. After much deliberation, Brian suggested the Wicked Pineapple acai bowl. Consisting of fresh pineapple, kiwi, strawberries, blueberries, banana, granola, locally sourced honey, acai, and coconut flakes this bowl embodies what Wicked Pineapple is about. The grand opening party is Friday, May 18th from 5pm-8pm. Update and pictures will be posted following the event.
